Hi, and thanks for checking out my blog. This is a companion to my YouTube channel.
After more than 50 years on the planet, I’ve decided to give up the yo-yo lifestyle and engage in a more nourishing pursuit, hence the name of the channel.
Over the years I’ve successfully used many different types of diets – Food combining, the Paleo diet, low-carb/ketogenic, and calorie counting. They all work (at least for awhile) and while they are quite different, I believe that they have something in common. This common feature is what makes them work and understanding that feature could be the key to maintaining the weight you desire whether that involves gaining or losing weight.
I’ve also practiced various styles of exercise – calisthenics, bodyweight exercise (I don’t think of these as calisthenics), cycling, and weight lifting. As with the types of diets, all these modes of exercise can help you build a stronger, healthier body. And successfully using them involves a common principle.
Currently I lift weights, ride my bike (when there is no snow on the ground), and watch what I eat. I am also something of a computer geek who tinkers with spreadsheets to track my progress in these pursuits.
So, what can you expect from this blog? I post weekly videos on my YouTube channel with updates on my current training, diet, the reasoning behind what I’m doing, my thoughts on diet and exercise, as well as the ways I use technology to track all of this, and more. I will link those here along with the scripts for them along with any graphics. I will also post more content here that doesn’t appear on the channel. This could include daily training videos, quick observations about my current training and diet, as well as links to content I think my audience might find interesting.
One caveat is that this will all be from the perspective of a 50+-year-old formerly obese man who wants to be more jacked. While I don’t have any experience being an underweight young man (or woman) who wants to be as strong as possible, I do believe that I have information that can be useful to everyone. My goal is to share that information.
I invite you to come along with me on my pursuit of a better life, improved health, and growth.
